Pump technology installed in a dry configuration in the central pontoon.

The pontoon design with an enclosed central pontoon marks the beginning of our suction dredger tradition. Since its introduction, this proven design concept has distinguished itself through its compact construction, high functionality, and robust engineering.

At the heart of the suction dredger is a spacious, enclosed central pontoon. It serves not only as the main buoyancy structure but also as a protected engine room. All essential technical components, including the dredge pump, drive engine, auxiliary equipment, and electrical systems, are safely housed inside, protected from the elements. The operator’s cabin is located on top of the central pontoon, providing a central position from which the dredger can be operated and monitored.

To provide additional buoyancy, cylindrical flotation pontoons are mounted on both sides of the main pontoon. Walkways installed on these pontoons ensure safe access along the dredger and facilitate operation, inspection, and maintenance activities.

Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring easy access to the machinery and technical equipment. The roof of the central pontoon features maintenance hatches through which components, spare parts, and tools can be lifted in and out by crane during maintenance or repair work. For more extensive servicing, the entire roof can be removed, providing unrestricted access to the engine room from above.

In its standard configuration, the main pontoon measures approximately 14.0 m in length, 3.0 m in width, and 2.6 m in height. Depending on the application, dredging capacity, and technical specifications, alternative dimensions and customized configurations are also available.

One of the key structural advantages of this design is the low installation position of the dredge pump within the central pontoon. Positioning the pump close to the waterline creates favorable suction conditions and contributes to reliable pump performance. At the same time, the enclosed construction provides effective protection for the machinery and technical equipment. This design not only reduces noise emissions but also reliably protects the engine, pump, and other components against adverse weather conditions and unauthorized access.
