Electric Catamaran Dredger with Open Centre Pontoon

The “Electric Catamaran Dredger with Open Centre Pontoon” is a powerful suction dredger design offering exceptional floating stability for demanding extraction operations. Its defining features are two laterally positioned cylindrical pontoons combined with an open centre pontoon. This configuration combines excellent stability with optimal operating conditions for the dredge pump.

Optimal Pump Arrangement and Excellent Suction Performance

One of the key advantages of the open centre pontoon is the positioning of the dredge pump. With its inlet located approximately at waterline level, the pump operates under particularly favourable suction conditions. This ensures excellent suction performance and efficient dredging operations.

At the same time, the dredge pump remains easily accessible and dry for inspection, maintenance and repair work. A bilge pump installed in the centre pontoon prevents uncontrolled flooding and provides additional operational safety.

Excellent Visibility for Safe Operation

The operator’s cabin is positioned in an elevated location in front of the centre pontoon. From here, the operator benefits from excellent all-round visibility of the working area, as well as an unobstructed view of the suction dredger’s main components.

Various types of operator cabins are available for this dredger design, allowing the configuration to be tailored to specific operational requirements.

Containers housing the technical equipment are located in the rear section of the suction dredger. These can accommodate electrical equipment, transformers and workshop facilities, among other installations. Depending on the overall system configuration, power generators can also be integrated.

Designed for High-Performance Dredge Pumps

This suction dredger design is typically equipped with dredge pumps ranging from the Döpke DP300/250 or Warman 12/10 up to the Döpke BP50II or Warman 14/12.

Motor power ratings of up to approximately 500 kW can be achieved. The maximum dredging depth is up to 25 metres, making this design suitable for a wide range of extraction applications.

Modular and Stable Pontoon Design

Depending on the specific configuration, the two cylindrical pontoons have a diameter of 1,720 to 1,820 mm. They are assembled from sections measuring up to 12 metres in length, according to the requirements of the individual dredger configuration.

Thanks to its wide catamaran configuration, the suction dredger offers exceptional floating stability. This provides a solid working platform and offers significant advantages, particularly when operating high-performance pumps at greater dredging depths.

From Manned Operation to Fully Automated Suction Dredging

The Electric Catamaran Dredger with Open Centre Pontoon can be equipped with all levels of automation offered by our company. Options range from safe manned operation and the monitoring and automation of individual processes to a fully shore-controlled suction dredger.

At the highest level of automation, both dredger repositioning and extraction processes can be carried out fully automatically. This allows the system to be precisely tailored to the requirements of each extraction operation and the desired level of automation.
